New London holds Saturday hours Oct. 8 and 22 for absentee ballot requests

New London ― The City Clerk’s office at City Hall will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 22 to provide absentee voters an opportunity to request an absentee ballot.

The clerk’s office asks those seeking an absentee ballot to enter through the front of the building and come into the foyer. From there, voters will fill out an application, provide valid identification, and verify voter status.

Absentee ballots are for voters who are unable to go to a polling place based upon reasons listed on the absentee ballot application, such as active service in the armed forces, absence from their town of residence and physical disability.

Voters must be registered to vote in New London to request an absentee ballot. The clerk’s office cannot register anyone to vote nor change their voter status. This responsibility falls with the Registrar of Voters office.
