    State police: Fatal car crash occurred in Old Lyme on I-95

    Old Lyme ― State police said a man was taken to the hospital and died Saturday morning after his car was rear-ended on Interstate 95.

    Identified in a state police news release, Michael S. Sansur, 52, of Darien, was driving a Honda Accord EX with a passenger on I-95 northbound between Exits 70 and 71 and stopped in the left lane for an unknown reason.

    Around 7:24 a.m., Fernando A. Dixon, 26, of Oxford, was driving in a Kia Stinger GT behind Sansur when Dixon struck the rear of his car resulting in significant damage to both cars, said state police.

    Sansur was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hosptial where he died of his injuries, according to the release. A passenger in the Honda, Michael A. Sansur, 21, of Milford, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital via Life Star helicopter for suspected serious injury. Dixon was taken to the Westbrook Shoreline clinic for treatment of possible minor injuries.

    The crash is under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact Old Lyme Resident State Trooper Matthew Weber at (860) 399-2100.
