Who: Individuals using the Warming Center

The situation: Despite a year-round waiting list for emergency shelter, NLHHC in the cold weather provides a warming center every night so that no one is left outdoors. This year there have been almost 40 people a night using the warming center in November and December compared to just a handful of people a year ago.

What to give: In some cases, financial assistance can help a warming center guest get back into housing through help replacing an ID, paying for a car repair or buying a bus ticket to family in another area. Staff will use donations to meet the specific needs of warming center guests who can return to housing with a just a little help.
