Griswold among recipients of grants to upgrade housing

Proposed renovations for Building 8 include converting a community space to a two-bedroom unit, replacing the tubs with walk-in showers in the remaining units, and upgrading two units and the laundry room so they are ADA compliant.

All eight buildings will get new asphalt roofing systems, and electrical, lighting, and repaving work will be done done.

Lamont’s office announced that the Connecticut Department of Housing is releasing $13.4 million from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Small Cities program to the seven communities. The other recipients from this round of grants are Litchfield, Naugatuck, Seymour, Suffield, Vernon and Windham.
