    St. Bernard recognizes December, January students of the month

    December Students of the Month

    Daisy Zheng of Norwich and Liam Carolan-Simpson of New London were named December Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School.

    These students were nominated by their teachers for exhibiting the Xaverian values of humility, trust, compassion, simplicity and zeal.

    Daisy, 17, a senior, participates in Chinese Club, Lead 4 Change and Math Honor Society.

    Teachers say Daisy has a positive attitude and is organized and diligent, especially with planning for her post-secondary success.

    Liam, 13, an eighth grader, was a member of the cross-country team and will be participating in track in the spring. Outside of school, he does karate.

    Teachers say Liam Carolan-Simpson is respectful, volunteers in class and gets all of his work done on time.

    January Students of the Month

    Nora Powers, of New London, and Nolan Marcille, of Waterford, have been named January Students of the Month.

    Nora, 11, a sixth grader, participates in basketball and drama club. Outside of school, she plays soccer and softball, plays piano and attends St. Joseph’s church.

    Teachers say Nora is respectful, kind, motivated, hardworking and helpful to other students in class.

    Nolan, 17, a senior, participates in soccer, indoor track, baseball and student council. Outside of school, he plays recreational basketball and volunteers at a baseball camp.

    Teachers say Nolan is kind and responsible, and is always the first person to offer his help in class. He works well with his classmates, volunteers to help others, is respectful and is a great example of humility and compassion.
