    Groton ― The UConn Avery Point baseball team gathered on campus Friday for practice. The team started practicing for the season on January 17.

    Saturday the team will play a scrimmage game against the Coast Guard Academy at the academy’s Roland Fieldhouse.

    Avery Point’s first game will be Feb. 25 at Mercer College in New Jersey. Their first home game is scheduled for March 19 at Washington Park in Groton.
