‘Baldo’ replaces ‘Dilbert’ on comics page
Readers of The Day may have noticed a new comic strip on the cartoon page Monday.
“Baldo,” a newspaper comic written by Hector Cantu and drawn by Carlos Castellanos, has replaced “Dilbert.” The Day dropped “Dilbert” after creator Scott Adams’ recently went on a racist rant online.
The new strip centers around main character Baldomero "Baldo" Bermudez, a 15-year-old Latino teenager, his family and friends.
“Baldo” is the first nationally syndicated strip to depict Latinos, the fastest growing ethnic population in the country.
The cartoon sometimes touches upon politically charged issues like immigration or the turmoil filled teen years.
We hope you enjoy it.
