Let’s Go: Con Brio Choral Society takes on Mozart’s Requiem
Those who have seen the film “Amadeus” will likely remember the dramatic soundtrack of Mozart’s Requiem that was woven throughout. On Sunday, April 4, at 4 p.m., at Christ the King Church in Old Lyme, this music will be brought to life by the Con Brio Choral Society’s 65 singers, Con Brio Festival Orchestra, and four soloists.
Performing with Con Brio will be Carley DeFranco, soprano; Allison Messier, mezzo-soprano; Ransom Bruce, tenor; and Christopher Grundy, baritone. Both DeFranco and Messier were soloists with Con Brio in the group’s December performance of Dan Forrest’s “Jubilate Deo.” Bruce and Grundy have performed with Con Brio on multiple occasions in the past decade.
Also on the program is an opera favorite, “Brindisi,” from Rossini’s “La Traviata,” and motets by Bach and Monteverdi. The men’s sections will have the spotlight on two pieces: Coney Island Baby and the incredibly moving piece Homeward Bound.
Tickets for this performance are $35 ($15 for students) and are available for sale online at www.conbrio.org
