Community invited to suicide prevention walk at Mitchell College

New London ― The Mitchell Mariners Mental Health Awareness Club at Mitchell College is holding its annual suicide prevention walk on Saturday and invites the community to join.

Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 1 p.m. from the Mitchell College Green, after a brief ceremony.

Registration is free but the club would appreciate donations to reach its goal of raising $5,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. People can also register ― as an individual, joining a team, or creating a new team ― and donate at bit.ly/MitchellWalk.

Campuses across the nation hold Out of the Darkness walks to benefit AFSP.

The Mitchell club’s first walk in 2021 was solely students, who dedicated their walk to friends lost to suicide, awareness, and prevention. But they invited the community to participate last year.
