    2nd Annual Recovery Fest to be held Friday in Groton

    Groton ― Ella T. Grasso Technical High School’s Students for Recovery will hold their 2nd Annual Recovery Fest 4—6:30 p.m. Friday at Poquonnock Plains Park.

    The event to help normalize recovery will feature about 20 agencies, including Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR), Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (SCADD) and Community Speaks Out. Town Mayor Juan Melendez Jr. will emcee the event, which will include recovery speakers and live musical performances.

    The Students for Recovery group advocate for awareness, advocacy and support for people with substance use disorder.

    The purpose of the Recovery Fest is to help normalize the conversation about recovery from substance use disorder, create awareness about the extent of the problem and advocate for the need for more access to help. The group also seeks to celebrate those in recovery and demonstrate support for those that are still struggling.
