The Ryan Marshall Foundation's annual charity softball tournament will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at Lisa Dedrick Field in Waterford.

A picnic will take place next door after then game at the Cohanzie Firehouse with food trucks, music, raffles, bounce houses and yard games. The rain date is May 7.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Ryan Marshall Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports local youth sports. Marshall, who died in 2020, was a standout athlete at Waterford High School. He went on to pitch at Central Connecticut State University and Mitchell College.

Money raised by the foundation helps support Waterford Babe Ruth Baseball, New London Youth Football, The Brian Dagle Foundation and Brian's Healing Hearts Center for Hope and Healing as well as the Ryan Marshall Foundation Scholarship at Waterford High School.
