Man doesn’t get far after fleeing rollover crash in East Lyme
East Lyme ― The driver of a 2022 Toyota Camry that rolled over and took down a utility pole Monday night on Dean Road didn’t get far when he fled the scene.
Police Chief Mike Finkelstein said officers responded to the vicinity of 24 Dean Road after a neighbor called at 9:39 p.m. to report the single-car crash. They found the empty car on its side in the woods, then found the driver “a short time later” in the yard next door.
Finkelstein identified the driver as John Crane, 29, of Old Lyme. He was conscious and taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries. Police are expected to file charges against him.
At noon Tuesday, Finkelstein said power had been restored to all but one residence in the area. The road remained closed from Route 1 to Nathan Hale Road while utility companies completed their work.
