Noank Community Support Services to host gala Friday

Groton ― Noank Community Support Services will hold a Roaring 20s Gala from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Branford Mansion at UConn Avery Point, 1048 Shennecossett Road.

The gala is to raise funds to support the organization’s homes for children in the care of the state Department of Children and Families, its home for unaccompanied refugee children, and its work with adults with chronic mental health concerns in southeastern Connecticut.

The event will feature an open bar, appetizers donated by JTK Management, who are the owner/operators of The Steak Loft, GoFish and Breakwater, as well as dancing to music by Sean Nelson’s New London Big Band, and a performance by local drag artists.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1920s or jazz-age clothing and to participate in the costume contest.

The event will feature a silent and live auction with items donated by local businesses and community members. Bidding will be completed with smart devices, and those who wish to participate in the auction but cannot attend the event may register as an auction bidder. Bidding is open and can be placed at noank.givesmart.com.
