Updated: Old Lyme asks people to welcome 9/11 exhibit on Friday

Old Lyme ―The fire department is asking for help to turn the arrival of the 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit into a parade.

The 83-foot tractor trailer unfolds into a 1,100-square-foot exhibit commemorating those lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks. The exhibit is scheduled to arrive Friday as part of the fire department’s 100th anniversary.

People are encouraged to line Lyme Street when the tractor trailer is escorted into town at about 2 p.m. by state police and fire trucks from seven towns.

The tractor trailer will arrive on Interstate 95, taking the exit 70 northbound off ramp at Route 156. The escort will take Ferry Road to Lyme Street, ending at the Lyme-Old Lyme schools campus.
