Mystic ― Members of Alison Cook Beatty Dance performed their modern dance piece “Murmuration” for visitors at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center on Tuesday.

Choreographer Alison Cook Beatty was inspired by the movements of starlings that gather in flocks (called murmurations) when she worked on the piece a few years ago.

The company is currently in residence at The Dragon's Egg studio in Mystic and has been traveling throughout New England with the piece through a grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts.

“We’ve been traveling around, kind of like the birds that inspired this dance,” said Cook Beatty. They have performed the piece locally at the the La Grua Center, the nature center and The Dragon’s Egg.
