Fairview Avenue in Groton to be closed later this week

Groton ― The state Department of Transportation has announced that Fairview Avenue, between Bridge Street and Grove Avenue, will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 to 5 a.m. Friday due to the installation of strengthening steel on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge.

The work is part of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge rehabilitation project. Traffic will be detoured to Route 12 around the closure area.

Drivers “are advised to use caution and maintain a safe speed when driving through work zones,” according to the DOT.
