DOT to install wrong-way detection system on Clarence B. Sharp off ramp in Groton

Groton ― The state Department of Transportation has announced that it will install a wrong-way detection system at the Exit 3A northbound off-ramp from Route 349 (Clarence B. Sharp Highway).

The work will take place from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.

The DOT said drivers can expect a temporary ramp closure on Route 349 (Clarence B. Sharp Highway) at the Exit 3A northbound off-ramp to Route I. A detour will be in place.

“Traffic will be detoured to Exit 88 northbound, left off Exit 88 onto Route 117, right onto 1-95 southbound, left onto Exit 87 and right onto exit towards Route 1 in Groton,” the DOT said. “Crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.”

The DOT said modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Drivers are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
