    Passero, City Council members take oaths of office

    New London ― The sounds of bagpipes led the way as Mayor Michael Passero and members of the New London City Council proceeded into the ballroom of the Holiday Inn for a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.

    Rabbi Marc Ekstrand of Temple Emanu-El delivered the Invocation while the national anthem was sung by Crystal Christie. Passero was sworn in for his third term by Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz.

    “I could have been many places tonight, but I wanted to be here to support my friend and the great leadership here in the City of New London,” Bysiewicz said.

    New City Councilor Jefferey Hart, a former school board member, along with incumbents Carmen Jocelyn Rosario, John D. Satti, Reona Dyess, Akil Peck, Alma Nartatez and Efrain Dominguez Jr. were sworn in for two years. Dominguez was named City Council president while Satti will be president pro tempore.
