Preston to hold public forum Tuesday on town strategic plan

Preston ― Residents are invited to a public forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday to hear an update on the long-term strategic plan for the town and local school district and to offer ideas on how to make the town a better place to live and work.

The third forum in the eight-month effort to create a strategic plan for the future of the town will be held at Preston Plains Middle School, 1 Route 164.

During the past eight months, town and school officials have conducted surveys and held public forums and interviews with community members to put together a strategic plan to guide decisions for the town.

As town leaders finalize the plan, they continue to seek feedback from residents on goals that include creating an economic development plan to generate tax revenue while maintaining the town’s rural character, study and plan the best uses for all town and school buildings, invest in technology upgrades and “validate and reinvigorate civic pride through communication and community events,” the flyer for Tuesday’s forum states.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
