    Road, parking restrictions announced for Sunday’s Norwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade

    Norwich ― City police announced that several roads will be closed temporarily beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

    The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Main Street. Main Street from the Viaduct to the Franklin Square roundabout will be closed beginning at 10:30 a.m.

    Additional roads in the downtown along the parade route will be closed at noon. Road closures are anticipated to last until about 3:30 p.m.

    The following roads will be closed leading up to and during the parade: Courthouse Square, Main Street, Railroad Place, Park Street, Cliff Street (from Park Street to Main Street), Bath Street, Franklin Street (from the rotary to Boswell Avenue), Chestnut Street, Willow Street and Lower Broadway.

    No parking signs will be posted on Saturday and remain in effect until the conclusion of the parade on the following streets: Broadway (Union Street to Main Street), Bath Street (both sides of the street), Franklin Street (both sides from Bath Street to Willow Street), Main Street, (both sides from Burnham Square to Courthouse Square) and Chestnut Street (Both sides of the street from Willow Street to Bath Street).

    Private parking lots in the downtown area will host several events immediately following the parade. While streets will be open following the parade, motorists should anticipate increased congestion and be mindful of the increased pedestrian traffic.

    All events are scheduled to be concluded by 5 p.m.
