    Author, illustrator visit Groton elementary school

    Groton ― Author Shannon Hale and illustrator LeUyen Pham visited Catherine Kolnaski Magnet School Tuesday to talk to students about how they are best friends and work together on picture books for children.

    Hale talked about the graphic novel “Real Friends,” illustrated by LeUyen Pham, that is about her tough time in elementary school.

    Pham worked on a few drawings with students and also a drawing of a student as a unicorn.

    The women also talked about their new book “Bubbly Beautiful Kitty-Corn,” the fourth book of their Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn series and read the book to the students.

    The event was sponsored by Bank Square Books in Mystic.
