Groton ― Michael Spangler and his son, Tobias, 6, explored Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park Thursday.

Michael Spangler said he decided to visit the fort because his son is interested in forts and builds them at home with pillows and other things.

Their visit was the first time Tobias saw a real fort and his father explained things about the fort as they went along.
