New London ― Lawrence + Memorial Hospital has been re-certified by The Joint Commission, in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, as an advanced primary stroke center for the ninth time.

The certification recognizes L+M’s commitment to better patient outcomes and signifies that the quality of care the hospital provides meets the specialized needs of stroke patients. It is given to hospitals that provide emergency stroke care, evaluation for acute stroke treatments, processes to reduce the risk of additional strokes and recovery services.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of serious disability in the United States.
