    Old Saybrook’s Wisialowski to challenge Carney for 23rd House seat

    Old Saybrook - Democrat Jane Wisialowski will challenge five-term incumbent state Rep. Devin Carney, R-Old Lyme, in November.

    Delegates from Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook and Westbrook on Wednesday unanimously nominated Jane Wisialowski as their candidate for the 23rd House District seat, according to a news release.

    Wisialowski is a 25-year resident of Old Saybrook who serves on the Board of Education and Parks and Recreation Commission. She is a professional conservator and fiduciary appointed by Connecticut probate judges to help individuals manage their financial and personal affairs.

    Democrats touted Wisialowski’s record of community service and sensitivity to issues facing seniors, women and families.

    Carney on Thursday was unanimously nominated to run for his sixth term, according to a news release.

    The state representative emphasized his record of bipartisanship.

    Carney is the House Republican Policy Chairman and the House co-chairman of the bipartisan Future Caucus. He serves on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding Committee, Transportation Committee and Education Committee.

    Carney works locally in finance. A board member of the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Old Saybrook Senior Housing, he also belongs to the Greater Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Old Saybrook. He was recently appointed treasurer of the National Caucus of Environmental Legislators.
