Groton ― The Naval Submarine Base will commemorate Memorial Day on Monday with a 21-gun gun salute.

The Saluting Battery from Naval Submarine Support Facility’s Weapons Department will commence at noon a 21-gun salute honoring the nation’s fallen heroes, according to a news release.

“The Saluting Battery will fire a single round volley at one-minute intervals until the 21-gun tribute is completed,” the release states.

The salute will take place at the Naval Submarine Support Facility Weapons Compound.

The event is not open to the general public.
