New London ― Lawrence + Memorial Hospital is again helping bring fresh produce to the community with its weekly Farmer’s Market.

The stand, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from Smith’s Acres, will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Fridays starting this week in the parking lot across from the hospital’s main entrance on Montauk Avenue.

It will operate through Oct. 25.

“We know that food insecurity is a big issue in our community, as is access to fresh produce,” said Lindsey Greene-Upshaw of L+M’s Office of Health Equity and Community Impact. “We want to make healthy food easily accessible, so people can pick up produce while passing through the neighborhood or coming to see their physician at L+M Hospital.”

The Farmer’s Market is open to the whole community along with hospital staff, patients and visitors. Cash, credit/debit cards, senior and WIC farmer’s market program incentives and SNAP/EBT benefits are accepted.
