Coast Guard Academy head women's soccer coach Susan Grant has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while Waterford's Claire Hurley was named to the first team for the second straight season.

Grant led the team to 6-3-1 record in NEWMAC play for the straight season and this year the Bears were the second seed in the conference tournament, the highest in program history. It was the first time Grant won the award.

Hurley, a senior, led the Bears with 10 goals, six assists and 26 points as she played in the field the final 17 games after playing the first two games of the season in goal. Hurley finished her magnificent career with a school record tying 33 goals and owns the program records with 20 assists and 86 points.

Senior Lizzie Miller earned second team honors for the second straight season. She anchored the Bears defense which posted six shutouts this season. Miller also scored a pair of goals and added one assist.

Coast Guard senior Brock Hassett and sophomore Mike Daunt made the all-NEWMAC men's soccer team as second-team selections, each being honored for the first time.

Hassett, a defender, helped the Bears post eight shutouts this season and had two goals and one assist while Daunt, a forward, led the team and was tied for second in the conference with eight goals. Daunt also was tied for the team lead with 17 points, which was fifth best in the NEWMAC.
