Black Wolves try to break three-game losing streak Saturday vs. Rochester

The New England Black Wolves, once 4-0 to start the season, are no longer worried about perfection. They just want to start winning again, having dropped three straight since the torrid four-game opening stretch.

The Wolves (4-3), now behind Philadelphia (7-3) and Georgia (5-3) in the National Lacrosse League East Division, will take on the Rochester Knighthawks (1-7) at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena.

New England is coming off a 14-11 loss to the Philadelphia Wings on Sunday. The Wolves trailed 6-1 before coming back to take an 8-7 lead on a third-quarter goal by Joe Resetarits for which he wrapped himself around the right side of the net from behind.

The Wolves trailed just 11-10 with 6:20 to play on a goal by Greg Downing, but soon after that were whistled for an illegal substitution that gave the Wings a man advantage and subsequently a two-goal lead.

Resetarits had four goals and Callum Crawford three goals and three assists. Crawford leads the team with 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists), while Resetaarits has 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points and rookie Andrew Kew nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points.

Rochester, despite having an NLL team since the league's inaugural season in 1998, are not the Knighthawks of old. The franchise moved after last season to Halifax, while Rochester was then awarded an expansion team.

The Knighthawks, coming off an 11-10 loss to Vancouver on Feb. 9, are led by Holden Cattoni with 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points and former Black Wolves star Shawn Evans with 14 goals and 26 assists for 40 points.
