FOXWOODS PLAN WINS FAVOR IN KANSAS

Officials in Sumner County, Kan., have endorsed two proposals submitted by developers seeking to build and operate a state-owned casino south of Wichita, including one by the Mashantucket Pequots' Foxwoods Development Co.

Foxwoods Development, based in St. Louis, has proposed an initial investment of $225 million in a facility that would have 2,000 slot machines and 40 table games. It would be built off the Mulvane exit of the Kansas Turnpike.

The Sumner County Commission also endorsed a proposal by Lakes Entertainment of Minnetonka, Minn., which calls for a $240 million facility with 2,000 slots and 60 tables.
