Westerly doctor's license to prescribe medications suspended

Westerly — A primary care physician’s license to prescribe narcotics has been suspended by the state Department of Public Health.

Investigators found that Dr. Lisa Noyes-Duguay of Primary Care-Women/Adolescents, which has offices at 85 Beach St., improperly prescribed and dispensed medications such as Vicodin, Klonopin, Buprenorphine products and Hycodon syrup to family members and others. They also found that 33 prescriptions for Suboxone were written for a family member. Noyes-Duguay told investigators that the family member may have obtained a copy of a page from her prescription pad and fraudulently wrote many of the prescriptions.

The Westerly Hospital issued a statement Thursday that it has received several inquiries about Dr. Noyes-Duguay and that she is not a member of The Westerly Hospital medical staff.
