Casinos' slots 'win' down 12 percent in December
Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun both reported today that their slot-machine revenues fell 12 percent last month compared to December 2011, their 12th straight month of year-over-year declines.
Foxwoods, including MGM Grand at Foxwoods, “won,” or kept, $44.1 million in wagers after paying out prizes, down from $50.2 million in the same month a year earlier. Mohegan Sun won $50 million, down from $57 million the year before.
The casinos recorded their last year-over-year gains in December 2011.
Foxwoods remitted $11.5 million of its win last month to the state, while Mohegan Sun’s contribution to state coffers totaled $12.5 million.
