Slot revenues down again in July
Southeastern Connecticut's casinos today reported a 19th straight month of year-over-year declines in slot-machine revenues.
Foxwoods Resort Casino, including MGM Grand at Foxwoods, said it "won," or kept, $48.7 million wagered on its machines in July, 4.6 percent less than the $51 million it won in the same month in 2012.
Mohegan Sun, though again capturing a greater share of the Connecticut slots market, reported an 8.9 percent decline. It won $54.6 million last month, compared to nearly $60 million the previous July.
"Our financial results remain on target," Scott Butera, Foxwoods' president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "The casino is performing as expected given the constant pressure of new competition, and the remainder of our operations are producing in line with expectations."
Mohegan Sun contributed $13.7 million of its slots win to the state, while Foxwoods' contribution totaled $12.3 million.
