Armed robbery reported on State Street in New London
New London — An armed gunman robbed the Honey Plus Store at 224 State St. on Sunday evening, police said in a news release.
A clerk called police at 6:40 p.m. to report that a man wearing a mask and armed with a long-barreled handgun robbed him of his wallet and money in the cash register, police said.
The robber was described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, and wearing a dark jacket. He was last seen running toward the post office and may have gotten into a waiting vehicle, police said. A light-colored car sped away from the area shortly after the robbery, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
Police used a bloodhound and searched the area but found nothing. The investigation is ongoing.
