    EMPLOYMENT

    Pamela Days-Luketich has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Community Outreach Officer, within Liberty Bank's Community Development Department.     Lisa Bragaw, PharmD, has joined the research team of Coastal Connecticut Research in New London for upcoming studies on Alzheimer’s disease. She graduated with honors from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy, and holds a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Florida. She is part of the team at Simply Pharmacy in New London and also owns and manages the Zen and Now Wellness Studio in Niantic, where she serves as a yoga and fitness instructor.

    Bragaw will be working with Coastal Connecticut Research site administrator and study coordinator Diane Palmer, RN, on an upcoming Alzheimer’s Agitation study led by primary investigator Dr. Laurence Radin.

    David Chapman has been promoted to Director of Information Technology, and Jodie Bartnicki has been promoted to Director of Human Resources for CorePlus Federal Credit Union.

    Chapman started at the credit union in 2004 after graduating from New England Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications. He lives in Plainfield. Bartnicki joined the credit union in 2016 as Human Resources Manager. She holds a Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of New Haven. She lives in Groton.

    For the second consecutive year, William W. Backus Hospital has been recognized for achieving meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care by the American College of Surgeons through its National Surgical Quality Improvement Program. As an ASA NSQIP participant, Backus is required to track the outcomes of inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures and collect data that directs patient safety and the quality of surgical care improvements.

    The ACS NSQIP recognition program commends a select group of hospitals — just 66 in the nation this year — for achieving a composite meritorious outcome related to patient management in the eight clinical areas of: mortality, cardiac incidents (cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction), respiratory (pneumonia), unplanned intubation, length patients spent on a ventilator, renal failure, surgical site infections and urinary tract infections for all surgery cases in calendar year 2016.

    GRAND OPENING 

    The McDonald’s of Lisbon, 97 River Road, will host a Grand Re-Opening Celebration on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 10 a.m. As part of the celebration, McDonald’s Owner/Operator Rachel Deane will be joined by local dignitaries and restaurant crew for a Flag Raising and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The Lisbon restaurant is remodeled with new digital self-order kiosks and will offer guests dine-in table service.

    GIVING

    Thames River Community Service Inc. is hosting a fundraiser week at the Five Below in 160 River Road, Lisbon. Five Below will give TRCS 10 percent of the total dollars spent before taxes through Oct. 25.     Jewett City Savings Bank has donated a total of $2,000 to six local non-profit organizations on behalf of customers who opened new personal and business checking accounts during the bank’s recent Renovation Celebration. As a result of the campaign, donations were made to United Community & Family Services, Jewett City Fire Department, Slater Library, Griswold PRIDE, Griswold Historical Society, and Saint Mary’s Food Pantry.
