    Lauren Elizabeth Vander Wiede Weds Jordan William Benson

    Lauren Elizabeth Vander Wiede wed Jordan William Benson on March 16 in the Chapel at the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland. The bride is the daughter of Mary Jane Vander Wiede of Guilford and the late Robert Vander Wiede. The groom is the son of Karen and Daniel Benson of Lilburn, Georgia.

    Lieutenant David Duprey, USN, officiated the ceremony, which was followed by a reception at the Anchor Inn in Pasadena, Maryland.

    The bride was given in marriage by her mother. Jennifer Bolt, sister of the bride, originally of Guilford, served as honor attendant. Bridesmaids were Shea Crosby, Jaclyn Moriarty, Chelsey Rink, and Jesse Wakeman, all of Guilford.

    The best man was Daniel Benson of Atlanta, Georgia. Ushers were Captain Tyler Evans, USMC, of North Carolina; 1st Lieutenant Justin King, USMC, of Texas; 1st Lieutenant Matthew Vollmer, USMC, of South Carolina; and Staff Sergeant Kevin Vander Wiede, USMC, of Guilford, brother of the bride.

    Kayden Vander Wiede, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. The ring bearer was Shane Vander Wiede, nephew of the bride.

    The bride graduated from Guilford High School and earned a B.S. in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps through the Naval Reserve Officer Corps. She is a financial management officer with the U.S. Marine Corps.

    The groom graduated from Providence Christian Academy in Lilburn, Georgia, and earned a B.S. in history from the U.S. Naval Academy. He was commissioned into the U.S. Marine Corps and is a supply officer with the Marine Corps.

    The bride (1st Lieutenant Lauren Vander Wiede, USMC) and the groom (Captain Jordan Benson, USMC) met while they were both stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. They both ended their active duty tours of service in April and currently reside in Augusta, Georgia.
