Old Mystic — R. James and Ellen (Coogan) Marshall celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Sept. 25, 2019.

Jim and Ellen were married Sept. 25, 1954, in Mystic and have lived in Old Mystic for the past 60 years. Jim grew up in the Rochester N.Y. area and Ellen grew up on the Coogan Farm in Mystic.

They met at a summer camp while in high school. They have six children, Robert (Georgia), Daniel (Diana), Patrick, Kathleen, John, and Elizabeth. They have seven grandchildren, Laura, Sean (Leanne), Hannah, Kyle, Colleen, Olivia, and Owen; and one great-grandchild Aubrey.

Jim is a retired Master Plasterer and was a church deacon. Ellen was active with child-rearing, scouts, school, and church.
