    Local Fleet Reserve Association to meet April 18

    Groton — Branch and Unit 20 of the local Fleet Reserve Association will hold their regular monthly meetings at 6 p.m. on April 18 at 242 Thames St. All members in good standing are encouraged to attend these meetings. 

    Membership in the FRA is open to all active duty, retired, and veterans of the sea services, who have at least one day of enlisted service. Membership in the FRA Auxiliary, or Unit, is open to all spouses, children and stepchildren over age 16, parents, and grandparents of FRA members in good standing. For more information, call (860) 445-0731.

    Nominations for officers for the 2019-20 year will be opened at the April meeting to all members in good standing who are interested in holding an office in Branch 20. Any shipmate interested should contact President John Sullivan and/or Secretary Joyce Harris by leaving your name and contact information at Club 20 and the position you are interested in. Nominations will be closed at the May meeting followed by election of officers. All offices are open for nomination; president and vice president are one-year terms and secretary and treasurer are two-year terms.

    On April 27, Branch 20 will fulfill its Adopt-a-Highway obligation of cleaning up along Gungywamp Road. Volunteers are needed for this community project and will meet at Cherry Circle and Gungywamp Road at 8 a.m. to start the cleanup. A sign-up sheet will be posted in Club 20.
