Norwich — The Three Rivers Young Marines is starting its next recruit platoon soon.

The program is open to male and female youths, ages 8 to 18. To join, the child and a parent or guardian must attend an orientation session. The first session will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20, at the Norwich Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, 30 Connecticut Ave.
