    Naval Submarine School Sailors of the Quarter chosen

    Groton — Aircrew Survival Equipmentman First Class Steven Robson and Fire Control Technician First Class Brandolf Schlieper were named the Naval Submarine School’s Sailors of the Quarter for the Third and Fourth Quarters 2013, respectively.

    Robson, who has since been selected for advancement to chief petty officer, served as facilities manager for the school’s training support department. Schlieper is an instructor at the Basic Enlisted Submarine School.

    Capt. Andrew C. Jarrett, the school’s commanding officer, praised Robson for his leadership, which led to the successful completion of work order requests, upkeep and upgrade modifications for 10 of the school’s buildings so there were no missed training opportunities. Jarrett said Schlieper, on a daily basis, flawlessly managed the curriculum that was delivered by 18 instructors to more than 500 sailors.

    Robson received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, gold star in lieu of fifth award, and Schlieper received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, silver star in lieu of sixth award.

    Sonar Technician Second Class Daniel McElwaney and Fire Control Technician Second Class Jeffrey Ward were honored as Junior Sailors of the Third and Fourth Quarter of 2013, respectively, as selected by the Naval Submarine School First Class Petty Officer Association.

    Navy Diver Second Class Kevin Levey and Machinist’s Mate First Class Mark Russomano were named Instructors of the First and Fourth Quarter 2013, respectively.
