A great time of year to go to the movies

Winter is the best season to get out of the house and go settle in a movie theater to see a feature film on the big screen.

The Garde Arts Center is in the midst of its Breezeline Winter Cinema Series, which runs through March 11, and it features a passel of award-worthy offerings. This week include “Triangle of Sadness,” nominated for Best Picture, at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Two movies that should have nabbed some Oscar noms but sadly didn’t are “Decision to Leave” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and “Till” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Among the plethora of other screenings coming up: Feb. 25 will feature a movie that is “Audience Choice” – a decision based on submissions from fans via the Garde’s website. That’s at 7:30 p.m.

And the Banff Film Festival will get you excited about heading back outdoors when it screens at the Garde on March 4.
