One film follows a global adventure athlete as he climbs an enormous rock face in the Sierra Nevada. Oh, and he’s blind.

Another film focuses on a quartet on an expedition above the Arctic Circle.

Yet another short movie is set in Zambia, where a proposed hydroelectric project threatens to flood the renowned Zambezi River rapids — which would eliminate river-related tourism jobs that locals rely on.

Those are among the documentaries screened during the Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour, which comes to the Garde Arts Center on Saturday. This fest celebrates the great outdoors and great adventures.

Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour, 7 p.m. Saturday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $22 to $37 plus fees; (860) 444-7373, gardearts.org.
