The band plays on, with Lynyrd Skynyrd in concert
Do you remember Dead Pools? You'd put your money in, draft celebrities you predicted were going to pass on - and if someone on your roster died first, well, you won the cash.
Can you imagine how rich you'd be if, way back, you'd just picked only people who played in Lynyrd Skynyd? Those poor dudes MUST hold the record for Most Band Guys Who Didn't Make It - and not just because they always have 16 guitar players and so they're more likely to lose someone through sheer odds.
Only Gary Rossington is left from the original group, but longtimers Rickey Medlocke and Johnny Van Zandt have been around long enough for authenticity, and their latest CD, "God and Guns," perpetuates their Deep South spirit and signature sound. They play New Year's Eve at the MGM Grand Fox Theater.
