Crack up: Leftover Crack hits New London

Stza Crack, delightfully opinionated front man for New York's anarchic punk/ska outfit Leftover Crack, is perhaps most famous for once throwing a box of donuts at police.

I'm not certain whether it was a cleverly ironic gesture - given the stereotypical affection of law enforcement officers for pastries - or whether it just so happened the band had a batch of Krispy Kremes in their backstage rider. I know if I had a rider, Krispy Kremes would be on it - and I wouldn't be wasting them by throwing them at folks, either.

In any event, that happened several years ago - which is notable because, timeline-wise, that's about how long it's been since Leftover Crack released an album. They swear, though, that recording on a new CD will start in the new year, so perhaps a New Year's Eve date at the El 'n' Gee Club will proffer new material.

Great support, too, from our own, very excellent Hempsteadys. And don't forget FleshHammer, Westside Infection, Cry Havoc and the Midnight Saints.

    - RICK KOSTER

Leftover Crack, Hempsteadys, Flesh Hammer, Westside Infection and more, 5 p.m. Saturday, El 'n' Gee Club, 86 Golden St., New London; $15; facebook.com/elngeeclub.
