Some enchanted evening: David Pittsinger and Patricia Schuman in "South Pacific"

    Patricia Schuman

Here is a rare and amazing opportunity for fans of music theater and opera: David Pittsinger will portray Emile deBecque in Ivoryton Playhouse's production of "South Pacific" — the same role he played on Broadway at various points during the acclaimed 2008-2010 revival.

And Pittsinger's wife, soprano Patricia Schuman — who, like her husband, has sung at the Metropolitan Opera and at famed opera houses around the world — will play Bloody Mary.

The duo enjoy strong local connections. Pittsinger grew up in Clinton and studied at the University of Connecticut and Yale, and he and Schuman lived in Essex for nearly two decades.
