After all, it's International Make Music Day and, along with the rest of the world, southeastern Connecticut musicians, songwriters and the whole of the populace are taking part. The idea? To celebrate the sorcery of song and its cumulative uplifting effect on our combined spirit.

Wherever you are, you can walk outside — maybe you ARE outside — and probably see and hear someone playing music, whether it's in an established music club or hall or even a most unlikely place like a library, museum, school or retail establlishment. So: do a few vocal exercises, run through a few scales, warm up by hitting all those notes in "Unchained Melody," and join the throngs! Or just go listen and smile.
