Utah band The Aces plays free show Saturday in Wolf Den
It seems as though the Music Biz still cranks out boy bands — Why Don't We, BTS, In Real Life are among the latest of these chart-topping poppers — to follow in a steamroller tradition of hype, harmonies and hormones.
Where are all the girl bands in this equation?
Consider The Aces, a Utah quartet that not only writes their own material but also plays their own instruments. Not sure the above dudes can do any of that. Displaying a crafty penchant for the melodic and stylistic hooks older fans would mistake for a side project in which Madonna fronted the Bangles, The Aces have updated that concept for modern times — and it seems to be working for them.
Traveling behind their 2018 debut album, "When My Heart Felt Volcanic," The Aces play a free show Saturday in the Mohegan Sun Wolf Den.
