Air Force Concert Band plays New London
Fans of the U.S. Coast Guard Band — and there are legions of them around here — can compare our own military musicians with another unit when the U.S. Air Force Concert Band performs in New London on Saturday.
The group will give a free, open-to-the-public concert at the Coast Guard Academy. The program includes Concerto for Harp by Alberto Ginastera, Waltzing Matilda March by Marie Cowan, Habanera by Georges Bizet, and “I Dreamed a Dream” by Claude-Michel Schönberg/John Cameron.
The band is stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., and is one of the six performing ensembles within the U.S. Air Force Band. The stop here is part of a 12-day community relations tour meant to honor the service of Airmen and highlight Air Force excellence through music.
