Suzanne Vega in concert at the Kate

We know that Suzanne Vega is a fantastic singer and songwriter and musician.

But here’s a new aspect to her career: She created a one-woman show inspired by the life of legendary writer Carson McCullers. Vega’s show, titled “Lover, Beloved,” premiered in 2022 at SXSW and won raves from Rolling Stone and other outlets. It sounds fascinating; Vega plays McCullers and reinterprets two talks that McCullers gave 25 years apart.

When Vega comes to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center on Tuesday, though, she’ll be singing. She’s touring in support of her 2020 album, “An Evening of New York Songs and Stories,” that features songs from throughout her career – including, of course, “Luka”; it was recorded live at the iconic Café Carlyle in New York City.

Suzanne Vega, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $65, with VIP and premium packages available; (860) 510-0453.
