I remember that Shawn Colvin’s song “Sunny Came Home” was a huge hit in 1997 — it became her signature song, after all. But I had forgotten that it also walked off with the two of the biggest Grammy Awards that year: Record of the Year, and Song of the Year.

So will Colvin sing “Sunny Came Home” when she plays the United Theatre in Westerly on Sunday? Of course! But her catalog of folk-pop music is rich, so there is much for her to choose from.

While Colvin will be performing solo at the United, it’s interesting to note that she’s recently done some joint shows with Mark Cohn, where they sing together as well as separately. I wish more artists did that; it opens up songs and performances in a whole new way.
