LeAnn Rimes in concert at the Garde

I feel as though it’s time for a LeAnn Rimes renaissance … a Rimes-aissance, if you will.

    LeAnn Rimes

Rimes has one of the best and most distinctive voices (a rich, burnished sound, with great range) in country music — although she has pushed beyond the boundaries of country, too. Her biggest hit was the crossover power ballad “How Do I Live,” which still has the record as Billboard’s biggest #1 single by a female artist.

Her last album, “god’s work,” was released in September but didn’t make the splash it deserved to.

She was on vocal rest last week and so did an email interview with The Day that will run Friday, but expect her to her usual self — sounding great live — when her “LeAnn Rimes: the story… so far tour” stops Friday at the Garde Arts Center.

Opening for her at this show is Braiden Sunshine, the singer from Lyme who made a national name for himself as a contestant on “The Voice.”

    LeAnn Rimes, 8 p.m. Friday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $39-$85; (860) 444-7373, gardearts.org.
